A New Friend

We made a little stop-over in Jackson, Mississippi awhile back to meet a very important person (we also got to meet his right-hand man and son/successor over fried catfish, an unexpected bonus!):

John Perkins told us, the most important thing in life is friends. After two hours listening to the tales of an old man, we are happy to call him our friend.

“You know,” says the man who coined Christian Community Development, “how people always say – give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, but teach him to fish and you feed him for a lifetime? Well that's just not true. Who really gets to decide who eats the fish? It's the man who owns the pond. We have to build a different kind of pond, a different kind of economy.”
